Our Adoption Process

Welcoming a new puppy into your family is a joyful and exciting experience, and we want to make the journey as smooth, clear, and reassuring as possible. Below you’ll find our step-by-step adoption process, designed to help you confidently choose the right puppy for your home.

1. Adoption Application & Waiting List

The first step is completing our Adoption Application. This helps us learn more about your family, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for in a puppy. Submitting an application places you on our waiting list to be contacted when we have litters available.

It’s important to note that the waiting list does not guarantee a puppy. Families who have placed a deposit are always given priority over the waiting list when it comes time to select puppies..

2. Placing a Deposit

A deposit is your way of showing commitment to giving one of our puppies a loving forever home once they’re old enough to leave their litter. We recognize that choosing a puppy is an important decision, so we keep our reservation process simple and flexible.

  • No deposit is required to meet the puppies, but we are unable to hold a puppy for you without one.

  • Deposits are $200 plus a 3.5% card fee.

  • Unless stated otherwise, deposits are non-refundable but transferable, and always applied toward the final price of your chosen puppy.

Placing a deposit secures your priority in the selection process over those on the waiting list.

3. Puppy Selection

We believe in transparency and want every family to feel completely confident in their decision. Our selection process is designed to ensure the best possible match between you and your new puppy.

We provide multiple ways for you to get to know our available puppies before deciding:

  • Photos & Videos – Regularly updated to showcase their personalities and growth.

  • In-Person Visits – By appointment only, Monday through Saturday. Visits give you the chance to interact with the puppies, observe their play with littermates, and get a sense of their unique traits.

Our goal is to make the selection process both enjoyable and informative, so you can feel at ease knowing your puppy is the right fit for your family.

4. Preparing for Pickup

Once your puppy has reached the appropriate age to leave their mother and littermates, we’ll arrange a pickup date that works best for you. Before going home, each puppy receives age-appropriate veterinary care and socialization to ensure a healthy, smooth transition.

What’s Included With Our Puppies

At Woodcrest Acres, our puppies are sold at pet prices and come with a variety of essentials to give them the best possible start in life. Each puppy goes home with:

  • A complete record of vaccinations

  • A record of internal and external parasite prevention

  • A health certificate issued by our veterinarian

  • 1-Year Genetic Health Guarantee

  • A bag of Puppy Food

  • A receipt / bill of sale

  • Early socialization with people, children, and other animals

Optional Add-Ons

Every puppy – and every family – has different needs. While some families are primarily looking for a healthy, happy companion, others may be interested in registration for competition, curious about their puppy’s pedigree, or preparing their pup for special roles such as therapy work, emotional support, or frequent travel.

To meet those needs, we offer a variety of add-ons that can be purchased separately:

  • Microchip – $45

  • Boarding services

  • Delivery options

Preparing for Pickup

We know bringing home a new puppy is an exciting transition! To give families time to prepare their homes, we offer a complimentary holding period of 7 days, or until your puppy reaches 9 weeks of age (whichever comes later). If you need more time, extended boarding may be arranged for a daily fee.

While puppies cannot leave before 8 weeks old, many are ready to go home between 8 and 14 weeks of age. During this time, we continue their care by:

  • Following our nutrition program

  • Providing baths and light puppy grooming

  • Maintaining parasite prevention and vaccination schedules

  • Offering continued socialization under our supervision

The boarding fee helps cover these costs, ensuring your puppy continues to thrive while waiting to join your family.

Pickup & Delivery Options

We strongly encourage in-person pickup whenever possible. Meeting us face-to-face allows you to see where your puppy was raised, possibly meet the parents and littermates, and gain peace of mind knowing your puppy’s background.

If travel isn’t possible, we also offer delivery services at an additional cost. Options include:

  1. Pickup at our home in Pennsylvania

  2. Ground delivery directly to your door

  3. Ground delivery to a mutually agreed-upon meeting location

At WoodCrest Acres, our goal is to make the transition from our home to yours as smooth and stress-free as possible. We’re always happy to discuss your specific needs and help arrange the best plan for welcoming your new puppy home.

5. Going Home

On pickup day, you’ll receive everything you need to start your journey together, including your puppy’s health records and helpful tips to make their first days at home comfortable and stress-free.
